Farmland Recovery

Restoring the utilization of farmlands in Albuquerque, NM is our number one priority. As the President-elect has announced, regenerative farming is the single most effective and beneficial way to offset carbon emmisions.

Albuquerque is in Bernalillo County in Central New Mexico. Bernalillo county is largely zoned for commercial/residential land use and uses just 1 percent of its land area for agriculture. In contrast, Valencia County, 1 hour south of Albuquerque, uses 3 percent of their land area for agriculture and is producing enough food to sell to markets nation wide. Our organization is working to ensure that the 1 percent of farm land in Bernalillo county is 100% active and operating to produce high-quality food for the population in Albuquerque and nearby cities.

This map identifies areas where there are numerous inactive agricultural acres in the Albuquerque area. Our organization is working to identify the best candidates for restoration of the topsoil and also sites that may offer varied terrain that already supports wildlife.
